Dry conditions and high panhandle winds have many counties across the Texas Panhandle under a burn ban.
The counties surrounding Carson County have burn bans in effect, so officials are considering putting a ban in their county as well.
Carson County Judge Lewis Powers says he wants the public to be aware of the dry conditions even though a ban isn't currently in affect in his county.
"We are very dry and we have a lot of fuel available that can be burned and that can burn accidentally and to be careful about your activities during a burn ban," Judge Powers said.
The Judge asks residents planning to do a controlled burn to notify the Carson County Sheriff's Office.
