Canyon PD warns of death threat email scam
CANYON, Texas (KVII) —
The Canyon Police Department is warning the public of an email scam that involves a death threat.
According to CPD, the Department received one of the scam letters on Monday.
CPD said the writer of the email threatened to kill the intended victim if 0.4 Bitcoins was not paid to the scammer.
CPD says this is not a new scam and that this type of scam has been around "for years." They said the spelling and grammar within the letter indicates a foreign country of origin.
Anyone who receives this type of email should not click on any of the embedded links or respond in any way. The sender's email should also be blocked, CPD said.
