Canyon, Texas woke up to some happy tunes this morning as the Canyon High School Marching Band marched through town.
Canyon High Schools annual March-A-Thon was held Saturday, August 24, 2013. It is their largest fundraiser for the year and one that the Canyon community really looks forward to.
"I kind of like the people that come out onto the streets and then cheer us on as we go. I think that's kind of what we're here for. We're here for the public to enjoy and have fun," said Head Drum Major, Sage Pistocco.
The band marched a total of ten miles, performing the entire way, all in an effort to raise money that will help the one hundred fifty band members with band fees.
Head Band Director, Mike Sheffield says it is a great chance for the band to raise money, but also bond as a team.
"It's a great chance for us to raise money, but it's also a great chance for us to bond as a band," said Sheffield "We kind of suffer together, finish together, and we achieve together, so it does so many things for our group."
Pistocco said, "It's not easy and it does take a lot of will power and strength to get all the way through, but in the end it's really worth it and it really makes the marching season that much better."
This is the 25 year Canyon High School's Band has done the March-A-Thon. They say they truly appreciate the community support.
