Cannon AFB changes command

Col. Tony Bauernfeind

Cannon Air Force Base welcomed a new commander today and the old command is moving on to other opportunities.

Col. Tony Bauernfeind took command of Cannon Air Force Base as part of a special change of command ceremony on the flightline, at 9 am.

According to Air Force records Bauernfeind has commanded joint special operations forces during Operations Iraqi Freedom and Enduring Freedom.

Bauernfeind is an experienced pilot of the MC-130E and MC-130H aircraft

He most recently served as the 1st Special Operations Group commander at Hurlburt Field, Florida.

Also joining Bauernfeindd, will be his wife Tricia Bauernfeind.

Brigadier General Buck Elton, was recently promoted and is heading to Air Force Special Operations Command headquarters at Hurlburt Field, Florida.
