A virtual tent city has popped up in the parking lot of Amarillo's newest Chick-Fil-A restaurant.

Residents are expected to continue to flock to the restaurant in anticipation of Thursday morning's grand opening. The new location is at the corner of 26th and Georgia.

So why are people out there waiting a full 24 hours before the restaurant opens?

It's a simple answer. Free food.

The first 100 in line win a free one-year's supply of Chick-Fil-A. That's 52 free meal cards from local operator Joshua Raef.

Those waiting in line will not only be among the first to experience chicken from the new restaurant but organizers say there are games and activities planned for the day.

There are more than 1,500 locations of the fast food restaurant chain. When a new location opens, it usually has the one-year giveaway.

It is estimated that the year in food amounts to about $750. Is it worth the wait?
