Buffalo Battle, obstacle racing at its finest

Are you "tougher than mud?"

The second Buffalo Battle obstacle race was held July 28, 2013, where contestants put their agility skills to the test.

The rough canyon terrain at River Breaks Ranch provided a challenge in itself for Buffalo Battle obstacle runners, but they also had to jump six foot fences, crawl through mud pits with wires, and push a vehicle uphill.

Runners entered in either of the two divisions, the elite being timed, and then the open division.

Event organizers said this race is unique because it's not your typical obstacle course and there's a purpose behind it.

"This particular race is a 5K course and it's got more obstacles than any other mud race in the region," said organizer, Cori Burns with a chuckle "I think we might even have more mud this year than any other race in the region!"

The event is supported by the U.S. Army, who had several soldiers also take part in the course.

"Our race also benefits Leadership Amarillo and Canyon," said Burns "It's really about comradery, development, and getting through the race, because this is not an easy course."

Event organizer, Mike Greer said they hope to hold another Buffalo Battle next year in Amarillo, but of you are interested in other events that they host you can visit {<}{>}.
