Borger man indicted for murder of father

A Hutchinson County Grand Jury returned an indictment Wednesday charging Brendan Kai Moffitt, 23, with the murder of his father, Herschel Bryan Moffitt, 47, of Borger.

It was the evening of January 1, 2014 when Borger Police responded to a shots fired call in the 900 block of Nelson. Upon arrival, they found Herschel Moffitt dead from multiple gunshot wounds.

Detectives said they learned through the investigation that the incident initially came from a domestic dispute between the father and son.

According to Hutchinson County Officials, this murder was indicted in the 84th District Court for Hutchinson County and Judge William D. Smith will preside over this matter. Presently, Moffitt is being represented by Borger attorney, Amanda Harris and 84th Judicial District

Attorney, Mark W. Snider, will prosecute the case for the State. Moffitt has already posted bail in this matter.

If convicted of murder, Brendan Moffitt could be sentenced to five to 99 years or life.
