Body found in Palo Duro Canyon

Update 9:35a A 20-year-old girl visiting from Germany was found dead after hiking through Palo Duro Canyon Monday afternoon.
The Randall County Sheriff's Department told Pronews 7 a girl visiting her former host exchange family was hiking through the Lighthouse Trail. It was around two or three this afternoon when the girl went missing. The incident was reported to Park Police at four.
A search party was then sent out but other hikers found the girl's dead body around six a quarter mile off the trail.
"We had a missing hiker around four o'clock when they first reported her missing," said Danny Alexander, Public Information Officer for the Randall County Sheriff's Office. "About an hour and a half or two hours later some other hikers found her off the trail and she was deceased."
The name of the victim is not yet being released but officials believe she may have died as a result of heat exhaustion. At the time of the disappearance, it was 120 degrees down inside the Canyon, officials said.
Foul play is not suspected and an autopsy has been ordered.
