The description an auto burglary victim provided to authorities helped APD officers locate the suspect near the scene.
On Aug. 11 at 10 p.m., Amarillo police officers were sent to the 6000 block of I-40 W. on an auto burglary.
The victim had given Amarillo Emergency Communications Center personnel the description of a black male wearing a red baggy shirt and plaid shorts.
As officers arrived, they began checking the area the suspect was seen running toward. One officer located a man with identical clothing in the 6200 block of Woodward, directly north of the auto burglary.
The suspect was detained and was taken back to the scene for identification.
The victim recognized him as the suspect that had been in her vehicle.
The suspect was also found to be in possession of property taken out of the victim's car.
The suspect is identified as Jeremy Daniel Mason, 20. He was arrested and taken to Potter County Correction Center on a charge of Burglary of a Motor Vehicle.
