Authorities were dispatched to Faith City Mission around 8:55 a.m. on Wednesday regarding an initial call that there was an armed suspect holding around 100 people hostage inside the chapel.

When APD officers arrived on scene, they entered in two different locations. Upon entering, they came in contact with an individual that had a gun in his hand. The officers fired shots and struck the man. The man that was shot was taken to the hospital by ambulance. His injuries are non-life threatening and he remains in the hospital at this time.

After initial investigation, APD learned that the man the officer shot had originally been in a struggle with the original suspect and had taken away the gun from the suspect.

Officials said the man that was originally in possession of the gun, 35-year-old Joshua Len Jones was taken into custody with no injuries.

Jones was booked into the Potter County Detention Center for six charges of aggravated kidnapping.

The man that was shot was taken to the hospital by ambulance. His injuries are not life threatening and he remains in the hospital at this time.
