Armed robber brings the New Year in with a bang

Store #46 of the Toot n' Totum stores was robbed at gunpoint on New Years Day early morning. The robber shot a round with a shotgun into the ceiling and got away with an undetermined amount of money.

UPDATE: Amarillo police have released in-store images of a armed suspect that fired a round into the ceiling of the store and took an undetermined amount of money from the convenience store in a robbery that occurred in the early morning hours of New Year's Day.

Amarillo police are investigating an early morning New Year's Day robbery that occurred at a local convenience store.

A white male, with a covering over his face, walked into the the Toot n' Totum store #46 at 4500 S. Western carrying a shotgun, fired off a round into the ceiling.

The two night clerks gave an undetermined amount of money from the two registers to the suspect.

There were customers in the store when the robbery occurred. There were no injuries reported.

The suspect left the store and was last seen on foot south of the store on Western Street.

The suspect was described as a white male, standing about 5' 8 to 5' 10, wearing a flannel shirt, blue jeans, and tennis shoes. The suspect was also wearing gloves.

Police are still investigating the crime.
