APD: Suspect, witnesses sought in homicide investigation

UPDATE: According to Amarillo Police Department autopsy results show that Alfredo Ruben Cueto died from a gunshot wound to his upper body. APD Special Crimes Unit has released photos of a pickup spotted near the scene of the homicide and is asking for the public's help in locating the vehicle. Police believe it is a faded red or maroon mid 1990's Nissan. Contact Crime Stoppers at 374-4400 if you have information. Amarillo Police Department officers responded to a shots fired call in the 4400 block of east Amarillo Boulevard on Sunday night at approximately 7:30 p.m.

As officers were on their way to the scene, they learned that one person had been shot. When officers arrived they found a man lying in a yard near a parking lot with a gunshot wound to his upper body.

APD identified the injured man as 24-year-old Alfredo Ruben Cueto. Cueto was transported to a local hospital where he died from his injuries. An autopsy has been scheduled for Tuesday morning in Lubbock.

APD said evidence at the scene has led investigators to believe that this incident is a homicide. At this time a suspect has not been identified and investigators are searching for witnesses.
