APD: Stolen cars recovered, suspects arrested

Three people have been arrested by Amarillo Police Department after information led investigators to suspects believed to be involved in stealing vehicles, auto burglaries and narcotics.

On November 14, 2013 APD stolen auto detectives recovered three stolen vehicles from information they received. The following day, November 15, 2013 APD stolen auto detectives, SWAT and narcotics officers located on of the suspects who was found driving a stolen pickup truck. As officers followed the suspect, he figured out was being followed and abandoned the vehicle and took officers on a foot chase.

According to APD, during the chase the suspect attempted to car jack a driver but could not get inside the vehicle and was later apprehended by police. Another person who attempted rescue the first suspect was also arrested and officers discovered the vehicle she was in was also stolen out of Randall County. Officers later discovered another stolen vehicle at a different locations.

APD said that a total of six vehicles have been recovered and three arrests have been made.

At this time the names of those arrested are being withheld due to pending investigation. APD is continuing the investigation and said that further information for additional suspects is developing. APD is anticipating more arrests and recovery of stolen vehicles.
