APD seizes $200K during traffic stop

Tuesday afternoon at approximately 4:45 p.m. an Amarillo Police Department motorcycle officer stopped a Honda SUV in the 5500 block of Interstate 40 West for a traffic violation.
According to APD, the officer noticed that the driver appeared nervous during the stop. The officer then asked for consent to search the vehicle. A K-9 officer was dispatched to assist and alerted on the vehicle during the search. Officers found $200,000 in cash wrapped in plastic and hidden in the dashboard of the vehicle.
35-year-old Curtis Gonzales was arrested and booked into the Potter County Detention Center for money laundering over $200,000.
