Three people were arrested Monday after an Amarillo Police Department officer recognized a suspect vehicle from a counterfeit report he had responded to a week before.
According to APD, the officer recognized the vehicle from the case and recalled that the vehicle was possibly stolen as well. The patrol officer stopped the vehicle for a traffic violation and approached the people inside.
39-year-old Justin Dale Crain, 31-year-old Ashley Eileen Salvia and 29-year-old Amberson Rene Amonson were inside the vehicle. All three were promptly arrested following the officer's investigation of the vehicle. APD said Crain was arrested for forgery and booked into the Potter County Detention Center.
Salvia was found to be wanted on outstanding local warrants APD said. She was arrested and booked in to the Randall County Detention Center. Amonson was searched by police after them giving consent. Officers found her to be in possession of two loaded firearms and meth. APD said because of a previous felony conviction, Amonson was charged with felon in possession of a firearm and possession of a controlled substance and she was booked in to the Potter County Detention Center.
APD said, the officers also found a stolen GPS navigation system after searching the stolen vehicle. The vehicle has been returned to the owner.
According to APD, the stolen vehicle portion of the incident is still under investigation and more charges are possible.
