APD: Man wanted for murder after stabbing father

      Shawn Michael Hooten, 35, has a murder warrant. APD is offering a reward for information regarding the incident.

      UPDATE: APD has confirmed that Shawn Michael Hooten is in custody. Hooten was located in the 6100 block of S. Bell at approximately 8:00 p.m. According to APD, officers were speaking with a complainant when Hooten approached them. Hooten was taken into custody without incident. He will be booked into the Randall County Jail.


      onday night Amarillo Police Department officers were dispatched to the 3300 block of Eddy on a stabbing report.

      According to APD, when officers arrived on the scene they found a man with stab wounds inside the apartment. The victim was identified as 61-year-old Perry Hooten and was transported to a local hospital where he later died. An autopsy has been ordered for Perry.

      At this time a murder warrant has been issued for 35-year-old Shawn Michael Hooten. If your tip leads to an arrest you could receive a reward up to $300.
