      APD: Man shot oustide house, investigation ongoing

      T uesday evening at approximately 8:00 p.m. Amarillo Police Officers responded to the 300 block of south Ross street for a reported shooting.

      T uesday evening at approximately 8:00 p.m. Amarillo Police Officers responded to the 300 block of south Ross street for a reported shooting.

      When officers arrived at the scene they found a 32-year-old man with a bullet wound to his abdomen and an injury on his wrist. The man was taken to the hospital for treatment.

      Police began to investigate and discovered that the injured man had been driven to this location after being shot at a residence in the 1300 block of southeast 5th.

      According to police, the woman who drove him to the store to call for help left before police arrived but they were able to catch up with her and discovered that the man had been shot at her house by another man who lived there. Police were able to contact the man who agreed to speak with them.

      A small caliber handgun was found in a trash container in the 1300 block of south Ross. Police say initial investigation indicates that the man was outside the house and the shot was fired from inside the house. Police believe the shooting is related to a previous relationship involving the victim and the woman.

      The shooting victim remains hospitalized with non-life threatening injuries. According to police, no arrests have been made.

      Names have not been released at this time due to pending investigation.
