APD investigating possible threat to Caprock High School

Amarillo Police Department and the Amarillo Independent School District were made aware of a possible threat to a school that was being spread on social media, according to an APD release.
The police department and the school district take all threats serious and investigate them fully, the release state.
According to the release:
- - Amarillo Police Department began investigating to determine the source of the social media message concerning a threat to "CHS."
- - Officers were able to determine that the message did not originate in Amarillo and was not intended to mean an Amarillo school.
- - The source of the message was located out of state.
APD Liaison Officers have confirmed with officers in the city that the message originated from, that a student in connection with the message has been arrested, according to the release.
The Amarillo Police Department would again ask that anyone who may see or hear of a threat to any school, contact your local authorities immediately and not just spread the message on social media. This will allow the investigation to begin sooner and allow for a quicker solution to the incident.

Amarillo Police officers are investigating a possible threat to Caprock High School.
"At this time, we have no reason to believe there is an active threat," APD Cpl. Jeb Hilton said.
He said APD has an increased presence around Caprock.
