UPDATE: APD's Traffic Investigation Squad said that charges related to this incident are still pending. The driver of the Pontiac is still hospitalized. APD said the bus driver was taken to a hospital with non-incapacitating injuries.
Amarillo Police Department officers responded to a school bus v. car wreck Thursday afternoon at Tascosa Road and north Coulter.
According to APD, officers determined the bus had been travelling southbound on Coulter and was turning onto Tascosa road when a Pontiac Grand AM travelling westbound on Tascosa Road when it struck the bus head on.
The driver of the Pontiac was transported to a local hospital with non life-threatening injuries. APD said the bus was carrying 41 students from Zavala Middle School and 13 of those children were transported to hospitals with non-serious injuries.
APD said the incident is still under investigation at this time and that no citations have been issued.
