APD investigates fatal motorcycle crash

O n April 6, 2013 Amarillo Police Department officers responded to a crash in the 500 block of the Ross-Mirror Connector.
When officers arrived at the scene, they found a Yamaha cruiser motorcycle had lost control and went into oncoming traffic. 33-year-old Ronald David Arias was driving the motorcycle and struck a Toyota Tundra.
Arias was not wearing a helmet and died at the scene due to injuries received in the collision.
The driver of the Tundra, Moe Zaw, 37, was transported to a hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
According to APD, speed was a factor in the collision and alcohol may have been a factor. A toxicology screen has been ordered for Arias.
APD's Traffic Investigation Squad is investigating the collision.
