APD investigates Amarillo shooting

Sunday morning at approximately 12:20 a.m. Amarillo Police Department Officers were dispatched to the 1100 block of northwest 16th on a report that one person had been shot and that shots were fired.
A vehicle, a Chevy Impala, was leaving the scene when officers arrived, officers pursued the vehicle along with another, an Oldsmobile Delta, that appeared to be with the first vehicle and stopped them. Officers began questioning the occupants of the vehicle and a the victim in the incident was later located at an area hospital.
According to police, the victim and some of his friends were at a convenience store when they began arguing with some other men. The victim and his friends left the scene and noticed they were being followed. They stopped in the 1100 block of northwest 16th and continued arguing. An unidentified person then grabbed a firearm and began shooting at the occupants. The victim was struck in the leg.
Investigators found shell casings at the scene. They also found two firearms inside the Oldsmobile. Investigator said that the victim was later transported to a Lubbock hospital for treatment of his life-threatening injuries.
One person, 24-year-old Christopher Eugene Irabor was arrested for unlawfully carrying a weapon and booked into the Potter County Correction Center.
APD is still investigating the incident.
