On Friday November 29, 2013 Amarillo Police Department Officers responded to a robbery call in the 6900 block of Interstate 40 west at the Sleep Inn and Suites.
APD said that a 21-year-old female was working at the time of the incident and told officers that a man entered the lobby and asked about room rates. When the clerk finished giving him the information, the man placed a note on the counter and told the clerk "you might want to read that." The clerk said the note read "empty the register and you don't get hurt."
Fearing the man was armed, the clerk gave the man the money from the register. He placed into a small pouch, placed both the pouch and the note into his pocket and left the motel. The man was last seen walking east from the motel.
According to APD, the man was wearing a large dark blue to purple jacket, gloves and a black "beanie" pulled down close to his eyes. He is believed to be a white male in his 20s to 30s, five foot six inches tall and clean shaven.
No injuries were reported in the incident and no arrests have been made at this time.
