APD, DPS surround north Amarillo neighborhood

APD officers are investigating a north Amarillo neighborhood after several shots were fired in the area.

Friday night at approximately 9:30, Amarillo Police Department responded to reports of shots fired in a north Amarillo neighborhood.

According to APD, officers responded to the 1300 to 1500 block of Jason and the 3100 block of Oak after several shots were fired in the area. According to APD one house on Oak was hit by one of the rounds.

Officers could hear shots being fired when they arrived on scene. APD said the Texas Department of Public Safety was called in to assist officers in locating the suspects. Officers then surrounded a house in the area and began their investigation.

At this time, APD has several suspects in custody, including some juveniles. APD investigators said approximately 30 to 50 shell casings have been found in the area and the weapon has been recovered. No injuries have been reported.

Officers are investigating the area as a deadly conduct investigation. Arrests and charges are pending at this time.
