Amarillo Police Department said one person is in custody in connection with the Texas Plains Federal Credit Union robbery.
According to APD, detectives identified 23-year-old James Aaron Sims as one of the individuals responsible for the robbery. Sims had also been identified as a suspect in a burglary from February 2, 2014 where four vehicles were stolen including a 2008 white Ford F150 that APD believes was used as the getaway vehicle in the bank robbery.
Sims was arrested Friday February 7, 2014 after APD COPPS officers saw Sims walking in the 200 block of northwest 10th. Sims was booked into the Potter County Correction Center for burglary of a building, felony theft, aggravated robbery and a local JP capias warrant for possesion of marijuana.
At this time a second suspect has been identified in connection to the robbery and the burglary. APD said the white pickup was found and returned to the owner. APD also said additional arrests and charges are expected.
