Amarillo woman attacked by dogs

S aturday evening Amarillo Police responded to the area of NW 17th and Bonham on reports of a woman being attacked by dogs.
A witness reported that the woman was walking in the 1900 block of NW 17th when she was attacked by several large dogs. When officers arrived, the owner of the dogs had them secured. The victim wasn't immediately found. Officers saw some blood on one of the dogs and they began to search for the woman.
Police found the victim inside a nearby home. The people in the home had witnessed the attack and threw the woman a stick so that she could try and defend herself. The resident of the home tried to help by clubbing the dogs with a baseball bat.
The victim was inside the home and had severe punctures to her body and legs. She was transported to the hospital by ambulance.
Animal control officers seized the three dogs from the owner.
