Voters in Amarillo have said no to the ARC with 54% vote against the bond.
In the November 5, 2013 election voters said no to the Amarillo Recreation Complex, a proposed sports complex that aims to solve the problem of overcrowding at parks in the area.
ARC is a public and privately funded facility which means a portion of the complex is privately funded while the another portion of the funds would have come from a tax increase for Amarillo homeowners. The vote rejects an Amarillo tax increase of 2.5 cents over the next 20 years. The tax increase would have been $25 a year for a $100,000 property.
ARC supporters said that they will continue to work even with the recent decision from voters.
