The Amarillo Police Department is looking for a vehicle they said hit a pedestrian and killed that person early Sunday morning.
According to APD, they were called around 12:10 a.m. to 45th and Canyon Drive on a report that a vehicle had struck a pedestrian on Southwest 45th Avenue and fled the scene. Officers determined the pedestrian had been walking southbound across 45th when that person was struck by the car, and died at the scene from injuries received. Amarillo Police are not releasing that person's name until the next of kin have been notified.
The vehicle that fled the scene is described as a light colored, four-door mid-sized sedan. It was last seen going westbound on S.W. 45th. Police say the sedan will have new damage to the hood and windshield.
