Amarillo police search for armed robbery suspect

The Amarillo Police Department is searching for an armed robbery suspect.
On Saturday at 9:26 p.m., officers were sent to the Toot 'n Totum Store at 4041 S. Washington on an armed robbery. The male employee reported that the suspect approached the register to purchase a drink. When the employee was about to ring up the purchase, the suspect produced a large knife and demanded all the money. The man repeated his demand for the money, and also demanded cigarettes. The employee handed the suspect the money from the register. The suspect walked out of the store. He was last seen walking southbound toward 41st Avenue.
The suspect was described as a Hispanic male about 5 feet 8 inches tall, approximately 200 pounds, wearing sunglasses, a tan coat with a hood, a black shirt, and blue jeans. No one was injured and there have been no arrests. If you have any information, call Crime Stoppers (806)374-4400.
