Around 2:30 pm Friday, an officer from the Amarillo Police Department, stopped a vehicle on a traffic violation. When asked to identify himself, the driver, William Porter III, 41, refused and drove off.

The officer then went back to his car and followed Porter across town until the chase ended at his residence on Royal Road, where he barricaded himself inside his home and refused to cooperate with officials.

APD along with DPS, called on the Amarillo S.W.A.T. team to aid in the situation and Porter eventually turned himself in peacefully.

Porter had a warrant for a second traffic violation out of another state. DPS says Porter will be facing evading charges and he was taken to the Randall County jail.

The incident is still under investigation.
