One man has been charged with murder after his wife was found dead in a garage. Potter County deputies were called out to 2001 Las Tecovas on a thirty party report of woman being assaulted.

Deputies said they found two houses on the property then finally opened a locked garage. That's where they found Sherri Michelle Gillette, 44, inside of a car parked in the garage.

Paramedics later arrived and declared her dead. Police say she was physically assaulted.

Deputies said they also found her husband Paul David Gillette, 47, inside the garage. He was booked into the Potter County jail on a murder charge.

Sherri and her husband lived on the property but in separate houses.

The investigation is ongoing and anyone with information is asked to call Special Crimes at 378-9468.

Gillette, the Falcon Club developer, was sentenced to 30 months in federal prison in May of 2007 after pleading guilty to structuring transactions.

AMARILLO, Texas (AP) - A developer in the Amarillo area is charged with killing his estranged wife and leaving her body in a vehicle.

Paul David Gillette was in the Potter County Detention Center on Monday on a murder charge, with bail set at $1 million. Jail records had no listing of an attorney for the 47-year-old Gillette, who was arrested Sunday at the couple's residence.

Gillette, who created a financially troubled housing development in Bushland, is accused of killing 44-year-old Sherri Gillette.

Deputies were called to the home early Sunday on a report of a woman being assaulted.

Officer Jimmy Rifenberg with Potter-Randall Special Crimes Unit says Gillette allegedly put his wife's body in an SUV in the garage. Sherri Gillette filed for divorce last November.

An autopsy has been ordered.
