Amarillo man arrested 24 hours after stabbing incident

APD have made an arrest in the Aug. 11 stabbing incident.
On Aug. 11 at 3 p.m., APD officers were sent to the 200 block of S. Tennessee on a stabbing that just occurred.
A woman and her ex-boyfriend were in her house talking when an acquaintance of theirs began banging on the door. The man at the door, later identified as Richard Earl Ewing, 35, told her that he was there to talk about his brother being stabbed.
Apparently, he believed that the ex-boyfriend had stabbed his brother, and he was there to find out what happened.
All three subjects were in the house arguing over the supposed stabbing. The two males eventually went outside and a physical fight ensued.
As the two were fighting, Ewing pulled out a small knife and began stabbing the victim, then returned to his vehicle and fled the scene.
The victim did suffer multiple stab wounds and was transported to the hospital by a neighbor.
He is being treated for his injuries, but is expected to make a full recovery.
At 3 p.m. this afternoon, detectives were tracking down leads to the identity of the suspect in this stabbing. He was located on a traffic stop at 45th and Cornell.
The suspect, identified as Richard Earl Ewing, 35. He was brought to the police department for questioning and to recover physical evidence from him.
He was charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon. He was booked into Potter County Correction Center.
