Amarillo Fire Marshals investigate structure fire

Monday night at approximately 10:24 p.m. Amarillo Fire Department responded to a structure fire in the 4000 block of south Van Buren street.

When firefighters arrived they found a vacant house fully engulfed in flames. Due to high winds, the fire spread to a house directly to the south of the house where the fire originally began.

Firefighters evacuated residents from four houses surrounding the original fire structure. The Red Cross offered assistance to the evacuated residents and nine of those evacuated received assistance.

Amarillo Fire Marshals are investigating the cause of the fire.
