      Amarillo family works to create lupus awareness


      Suday an Amarillo family hosted the newly found, Amarillo Lupus Awareness walk, at Sam Houston Park.


      After a family member of an Amarillo resident was diagnosed with lupus at the age of 16, family and friends began searching for a way to contribute to finding a cure.


      Planning for a lupus awareness walk began, and Sunday morning their efforts were apparent.


      "I made her a promise that we would create a walk," said Walk Chairman Angelica Zuniga. We worked on it a couple of months and we got a great response."


      May is National Lupus Awareness Month, proceeds from the walk will go to benefit the North Texas Lupus Foundation of America Chapter.
