Amarillo 101 offers insight to City government, services
AMARILLO, Texas (KVII) —
The City of Amarillo is offering citizens a series of classes to give insight into several different aspects of the City.
According to the City, Amarillo 101 is a citizens academy that offers a look into municipal government, its services and its history.
The program "strives to equip and encourage citizens to assume a leadership role within the community."
The City said Amarillo 101 includes five classroom-style settings, three field days and an official graduation, as well as recognition by the Amarillo City Council for completing the program.
"By the end of the program, participants will have gained a new appreciation for their City, the complexity of the City’s operations, and the multitude of services the City provides its citizens," the City said.
Those who wish to participate in the classes should be at least 18-years-old and live within the City of Amarillo. Applicants should also be able to commit to all eight sessions and graduation, the City said.
