The New Mexico Department of Health's Clovis Public Health Office will be hosting a flu shot clinic for school-aged children ages four to 18 on Monday, Nov. 20.

The NMDOH said this after-hours clinic will make it convenient for parents to get their children vaccinated for flu because local schools no longer offer the service.

"The severity of flu season can vary from year to year, but seasonal flu vaccine protects against the influenza viruses expected to be most common during the upcoming season," the NMDOH said. "Nothing can protect you from the flu better than getting vaccinated every year."

Although flu vaccines are offered in many locations including doctor's offices, hospitals and pharmacies, as well as many employers and some schools, Public Health offices throughout the state have the vaccines available for those without insurance.

The clinic will take place at the Clovis Public Health Office from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. For more information on the no-charge flu shot clinic call the Clovis Public Health Office at (575)-763-5583.
