AFD investigates Sunday night structure fire

On sunday night at approximately 11:55 p.m. Amarillo Fire Department responded to a structure fire in the 3400 block of Lynette.

When firefighters arrived they found the rear section of a house engulfed in flames. Firefighters searched the house and controlled the blaze within approximately 34 minutes.

Four people were in the home at the time of the fire. They were able to escape with only one burn injury to the hand of one of the occupants. The American Red Cross was able to assist the displaced occupants.

At this time the cause of the fire is still under investigation. AFD estimates the property damage to be $50,000.
