On April 21 just before 11 p.m., a one-vehicle accident claimed the life of a driver on Interstate 40 outside of Groom.
Harry Lee Frank, 74, of Mesa, Ariz., was driving a 2010 Mercury passenger vehicle west on I-40 2.4 miles outside of Groom when he went into the center median. He then overcorrected back onto I-40 out of control, according to the report from the Texas Department of Public Safety. He then swerved back into the center median in a side skid, causing the car to roll. It came to rest in the center median on its roof. He was wearing his seatbelt at the time of the crash.
Frank was pronounced dead at the crash scene by Justice of the Peace Jean Hardman.
