CNN -- Former Army Sergeant Kyle White will be awarded the Medal of Honor next month at the white house.
White is being honored for trying to save the lives of fellow soldiers in Afghanistan during a fire fight in 2007.
The 27-year-old Seattle native will become the seventh living recipient of the nation's highest military decoration.
White left the Army in 2011 and now works in the private sector.
His awards and decorations include the Purple Heart and the Army Commendation Medal.
