31-year-old Amarillo man dies following crash on FM-1912
AMARILLO, Texas (KVII) —
A 31-year-old man from Amarillo died and another received life-threatening injuries following an early Saturday morning crash on FM-1912.
The Texas Department of Public Safety said Troopers were called to the two-vehicle crash, which was about 11 miles northeast of Amarillo, around 4:40 a.m.
DPS said 29-year-old Matthew Kadin, of Amarillo, was driving a 2007 Buick UCX northboung on FM-1912 when he veered off the road and lost control. The vehicle skid across the northbound lanes and into the southbound lane, where the Buick collided with a 2012 Nissan Rogue that was being driven by 30-year-old Jade Arias.
The passenger in the Buick, who was identified as Michael Coleman, was pronounced dead at the scene.
According to DPS, Kadin was taken tot he hospital with life-threatening injuries.
Arias was taken to the hospital where she was treated and released.
DPS said it is unknown what caused Kadin to veer off the road. The crash is still being investigated.
