37 pounds of cocaine and 45 pounds of methamphetamine were found during a traffic stop on Interstate 40.
According to the Texas Department of Public Safety, a trooper stopped a Volkswagen traveling east on I40 for a traffic violation near Conway. The trooper searched the vehicle and found the drugs in the trunk of the vehicle.
The estimated value of the meth is more than $1.6 million and the cocaine was worth more than $1.1 million according to DPS.
57-year-old Estela Maldonado Montijo and 49-year-old Miguel A Montijo-Martinez were inside the vehicle at the time of the stop. Both of them were arrested for possession of a controlled substance and booked into the Carson County Jail.
DPS said the drugs were allegedly being transported to Atlanta Ga. To Livingston Calif.
