Amarillo police are investigating after they say two 'similar robberies' took place in North Amarillo within the past week. Both victims were pizza delivery men.

According to police, the first robbery happened on Sunday, April 2, in the 400- block of N.W. 15th Avenue. Officers were sent to the area just after 11 p.m. on the robbery.

Police said a man had called and ordered pizza, giving the restaurant an address on N.W. 15th Avenue. When the victim walked up to the porch, a white man and a black man were sitting on the porch waiting and the black man raised what was believed to be a gun, pointing it at the victim. He then started to count down, which led the victim to believe he was about to be shot.

APD said the victim dropped the pizza and left the area. When officers responded to the address where the incident happened, they found it was an abandoned home.

The second robbery happened on Thursday night in the 1400- block of North Tyler Street. Officers were sent to the area just before midnight.

According to APD, a man had called and ordered pizza at an address on North Tyler Street. When the victim, a different pizza delivery man, was again met by a white man and a black man. The black man pointed a gun at the victim's head and told him to give them everything he had or he would kill him.

Police said the victim gave the suspects everything he had, including the pizza, car keys and his personal belongings. The victim then ran away and was able to get someone to call police for him. Officers did find his car parked in the same location but the keys were not found.

Neither victim was injured during the robberies.

Police said the black man is described as wearing a dark hooded sweatshirt during both robberies. During the first robbery, he was also wearing a red hat. The white man in the first robbery was described as wearing a gray hooded sweatshirt with blue lettering but since it was dark outside, there was not other descriptions.

In the second robbey, the black man was said to be between 5'8" and 6' tall. He was also described as being between 18 to 25 years old.

APD said although there is no evidence to link the two robberies at this time, the location, suspect descriptions and circumstances appear to be similar.

Anyone with information on either of these robberies is asked to call APD or Amarillo Crime Stoppers at (806)374-4400 or click here to submit an anonymous online tip.
