Two Tulsa Police officers are in jail on murder charges after investigators say they shot and killed their daughter's boyfriend in north Tulsa.
54-year-old Shannon Kepler was booked on a complaint of first-degree murder. His wife, 48-year-old Gina Kepler is jailed on a complaint of being an accessory to murder after the fact, according to Fox 25 affiliate KTUL.
Officers said they were dispatched to the 200 block of North Maybelle Avenue around 9:15 Tuesday night after reports that a man had been shot. When they arrived in the area, they said they found 19-year-old Jeremy Lake dead.
Booking information indicates that Lake was the boyfriend of the Keplers' daughter. The report states the girl and Lake were walking down the street when she noticed a black Chevy Suburban come to a stop nearby and recognized it as the vehicle her father, Shannon Kepler, drives.
She told police that Lake approached the SUV and told Kepler he was dating Kepler's daughter. The report states that's when Kepler shot Lake two or three times, then tried to shoot his daughter two or three times, missing her, before driving away.
Detectives contacted Gina Kepler who said she and her husband would surrender and would turn over the weapon used in the shooting.
However, the report indicates that when the Keplers did finally surrender, it was without the weapon or the Suburban. Police are still looking for those items in connection with the shooting.
