2 men dead after plane crash west of Friona
PARMER COUNTY, Texas (KVII) —
A private airplane crashed in Parmer County on Sunday about eight miles west of Friona resulting in the death of two 25-year-old men.
According to the Texas Department of Public Safety, the crash occurred at about 9 p.m. after it took off from the owner's residence and failed to return. The aircraft was last seen at about 8:30 p.m. flying west of Friona.
A 911 call was place at about 10:45 p.m. reporting the plane missing. A ground search was conducted by numerous agencies.
DPS Aircraft located the crash site about eight miles west of Friona. The crash site was confirmed to be the missing aircraft.
Both occupants, identified as Clayton Sides, 25, of Dimmitt and Thomas Jacob Hefner, 25, of Bovina, were deceased.
DPS troopers are securing the scene until the Federal Aviation Administration arrives. The FAA will release more information as their investigation progresses.
