2 firefighters hit by a vehicle while battling a fire

Two Potter County firefighters were injured Sunday afternoon after a vehicle struck them while on the scene of a fire.

The fire broke out at 4401 North Acres just before 4:00 p.m. Potter County firefighters were able to put the blaze out quickly. According to the Texas Department of Public Safety, that's when a woman driving a black car wasn't paying attention and hit a firefighter directing traffic around the scene. Officials say he got her to put the vehicle in park, and when the woman got out to talk to officials, another firefighter reached in to turn the vehicle off and somehow it shifted into gear and hit another firefighter on scene.

DPS say both suffered what appear to be minor injuries and were taken to the hospital by ambulance.
