2 dead in motorcycle, SUV crash in Hartley County
HARTLEY COUNTY, Texas (KVII) —
A two-vehicle crash in Hartley County resulted in the death of two people on Monday on U.S. Highway 87.
According to the Texas Department of Public Safety, at about 2:35 p.m., Tom Boone III, 60, of Rock Springs, Wyoming, was driving a 2005 BMW motorcycle, towing a motorcycle trailing, traveling west on US 87 about 10 miles to the west of Hartley. Tiffany Daniel, 44, of Dumas, was driving a 2016 GMC Yukon on US 87 west in front of Boone.
Daniel made a u-turn in front of the motorcycle, causing Boone to crash into the SUV.
Boone was pronounced dead at the scene by the Hartley County Justice of the Peace. The passenger on the motorcycle, Rebecca Boone, 60, of Rock Springs, was transported to a hospital in Amarillo where she later died from life-threatening injuries sustained in the crash.
Daniel was not injured and was wearing her seatbelt. Both Tom and Rebecca Boone were wearing helmets.
The road conditions were dry and no other vehicles were involved.
Charges are pending the result of the ongoing investigation.
