2 arrested for warrants, drugs, stolen pistol after being recognized by APD

Harris was booked into the Randall County Jail on the misdeamor warrant.

Amarillo police department arrested two for warrants after pulling over a car that the officer recognized as being driven by a wanted person.

On June 21 at 5:07 a.m., an Amarillo police officer saw a silver 1995 Cadillac four door that was southbound on Ridgemere Blvd. The officer recognized it as a vehicle driven by a wanted suspect.

The officer stopped the car in the 2800 block of Sanborn.

The driver was the wanted person, Andre Juane Speaks, 31, of Amarillo.

Speaks had an outstanding bond forfeiture warrant stemming from a felon in possession of a firearm arrest in Wichita County.

The female passenger, Davina Harris, 25, was wanted on an outstanding city warrant for possession of drug paraphernalia. Both were taken into custody.

Officers searched the vehicle and found narcotic paraphernalia, a plastic bottle containing about 11 grams of what appears to be methamphetamine, and loaded a .45 caliber pistol.

A check on the weapon's serial number showed that it was stolen in a 2011 burglary in north Amarillo.

Speaks was taken to the Potter County Detention Center where he was booked for possession of a controlled substance over 4 grams/under 300 grams, the unlawful possession of a firearm by a felon warrant, and a new charge of unlawful possession of a firearm.

Harris was booked into the Randall County Jail on the misdeamor warrant.
