2 arrested after shots fired in Amarillo

Friday morning at approximately 2:15 a.m. Amarillo Police Officers responded to Amarillo Boulevard west and north Washington on a shots fired report.
According to police, a caller provided a vehicle description and police located the vehicle and searched it. During their search police found a semi automatic pistol in the back seat of the vehicle.
After further investigation Amarillo Police Department Officers arrested Yancey Lajuan Phea, 29, and Blake Welch, 23, who were sitting in the back seat when police made the initial stop.
Phea was charged with unlawful possession of a firearm by a felon, theft of a firearm, discharging a firearm inside the city, tampering with the identification number of a firearm, an outstanding Potter County warrant and possession of marijuana.
Welch was charged with unlawful carry of a weapon.
Both Phea and Welch were booked into Potter County.
At this time the incident is still under investigation.
