The Potter County Sheriff's Office has made two arrests regarding a Sunday evening burglary.

According to officials, the Potter County Sheriff's Office received a call around 5:15 p.m. on Sunday of a burglary in process in the 11700 block of Whitewing Drive in the Tierra Grand subdivision.

Authorities said a neighbor confronted two people breaking into outbuildings. As deputies approached the area, the two fled the scene in a white Chrysler.

A short vehicle pursuit happened as a result that headed south bound on N. Western. Amarillo Police Department officers were able to use spike strips on the vehicle.

Authorities said the vehicle then drove east on Loop 335, where it eventually came to a stop as it caught on fire.

The two were identified as 26-year-old Mikel Mclemore and 23-year-old Harley Whisenhunt.

Mclemore and Whisenhunt fled from the vehicle into a nearby neighborhood and were both captured shortly after. Items from the burglary were recovered at the scene, as well.

The two were arrested and booked into the Potter County Detention Center on charges of burglary into a building, evading with a motor vehicle and evading arrest or detention.
