      19-year-old charged with 39 felony counts for Sears embezzlement

      Jcoree Bailey, 19, of Texico has been arrested and charged with 38 fourth degree felony counts of violating the Remote Financial Services Act and one count of embezzlement, also a fourth degree felony.

      O n April 23, the Curry County Sheriff's Office was contacted by Sears Corporation Loss Prevention agents and asked to investigate an internal crime occuring at their North Plains Mall location in Clovis.

      As a result of this request, the Curry County Sheriff's Office conducted an investigation wherein it was confirmed that a Sears employee was fraudulently using Sears cards to embezzle money from the store and then using the embezzled money to purchase items online.

      At this time, the estimated value of the items purchased with the embezzled funds is more than $8,000. Sheriff investigators also served a search warrant at the suspect's residence in Texico, N.M., and recovered more than $6,000 of items believed to have been illegally obtained during the embezzlement.

      Jcoree Bailey, 19, of Texico has been arrested and charged with 38 fourth degree felony counts of violating the Remote Financial Services Act and one count of embezzlement, also a fourth degree felony.

      Bailey was booked into the Curry County Detention Center and has since been released on a $50,000 cash/surety bond.

      The investigation into this matter is continuing and additional arrests are anticipated.
