$170K worth of meth seized by DPS

On Friday, a Texas Department of Public Safety Trooper stopped a Saturn Vue traveling eastbound on Interstate 40 for a traffic violation near Groom Texas.

During the stop, the trooper searched the vehicle and found four pounds of methamphetamine hidden in the vehicle's spare tire. The estimated value of the drugs is $170,000.

18-year-old Jose Luis Mendoza Valenzuela was driving the vehicle at the time of the stop. Valenzuela was arrested for possession of a controlled substance. He was booked into the Carson County Jail.

According to DPS the drugs were being transported from Phoenix, Ariz. to Wichita Kan.
